Even though there are many discussions about unprecedented challenges which have been hindering stability, peace and prosperity of the world, ranging from economic and social disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to the recent war between Russia and Ukraine, the U.S-Sino rivalry remains one of the most significant issues that require our great attention.
Concerning the U.S -China competitions, these two major countries have been trying to engage with other states both bilaterally and multilaterally to ensure their preponderant influences over the regional and global order. Lately, we have seen that the U.S, President Joe Biden initiated a new agreement under the name of ‘Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF).’ This new initiative is considered the U.S’s strategic plan to reinforce its economic leadership in the Indo-Pacific, and it is believed that to directly counter China’s grant strategy ‘Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).’
Therefore, in this episode, the Asian Vision Dialogue is privileged to have Dr. CHHEANG Vannarith, President of the Asian Vision Institute (AVI), and Dr. CHEUNBORAN Chanborey, Strategic advisor to Asian Vision Institute (AVI), to discuss the nature of this new economic framework as well as its priorities and commitments compare to BRI.
