Cambodian Prime Minister Delivered Remarks at the 7th World Rally of Hope: Think-Tank 2022
On September 12, 2021, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, attended the 7th World Rally of Hope: Think-Tank 2022, under the theme “Peace in the Asia-Pacific” via video conference. During the conference, Samdech Techo Hun Sen delivered remarks by expressing the rally’s significance in strengthening the culture of peace and mutual trust as a country that place the priceless value upon peace in the Asia-Pacific region.
Nonetheless, an ongoing appealing geopolitical event in the region is the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, Afghanistan, after the withdrawal of US troops, which has reminded Cambodians of the utmost misery when the Khmer Rouge took over Phnom Penh city on April 17, 1975.
In regard to these events, Samdech Hun Sen mentioned that it has thrown a practical experience to be learned for other states in the sense that peace and nation-building can only be achieved by the local stakeholders in the conflicting-country.
Therefore, national ownership is the key to success and sustained peace in which other countries cannot shape political value and system upon any country, emphasized by Samdech Techo.
Last but not least, as a country that has been through the chronic war and has built full peace through the implementation of Win-Win policy, Samdech Techo Hun Sen re-emphasized that national ownership is the most important key in peace-building and nation-building in the post-conflict period.
