Mr. Ith Samheng, the ministry of Labor, suggested the World Bank to offer more development skills and mobility for Cambodian young people to access more opportunities in job marketing.
The request was made on February 14, during a meeting with World Bank’s Managing Director of Social Protection and Global Performance in East Asia and the Pacific, Yasser El-Gammal to assist Cambodia’s youth in securing employment security and possibilities to raise their income, as well as to contribute to the country’s increased productivity.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the World Bank for sending specialists to Cambodia to provide training to the country’s human resources so that they can participate in society and contribute to the development of the country’s main infrastructure. The accomplishments have aided the Royal Government.
Yasser El-Gammal expressed hope about Cambodia’s quick development in all sectors under the Royal Government’s leadership. He expressed his delight at the prospect of further collaboration between private and public institutions, particularly with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training on capacity building and skill development for young people.
Minister Samheng has asked the World Bank for help in improving the quality of TVET to suit the needs of the labor market, increasing membership in the TVET system, and encouraging private sector participation, among other things.
