Who is Fumio Kishida, Japan’s next prime minister?
The Liberal Democratic Party elected Fumio Kishida as party president on September 28, 2021. Fumio Kishida is a former politician who has been a member of parliament since 1993. From 2012 to 2017, he has served as foreign minister in the government of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Fumio Kishida wants a world free of nuclear weapons, contributing to the 2016 visit of former US President Barack Obama to Hiroshima, which one of the atomic bombs was exploded in that prefecture in 1945.
In addition, he is committed to the domestic economy, promising to develop a new plan to foster declining economic growth by the Covid-19 pandemic and reduce social inequality.
